Bio
Recruited from the Geelong Falcons with a speculative late selection (pick 83) in the 2006 National Draft, Ryan Williams arrived at Alberton alongside close friend Travis Boak but carved out his most significant legacy in the state leagues. A gutsy, defensive-minded utility who modeled his game on the fearless Michael Wilson, Williams broke into the Power senior side for a two-game cameo in mid-2008, debuting against Carlton. Despite showing aptitude in run-with roles, he was delisted at the end of that season, yet his departure from the AFL merely sparked a dominant SANFL career. Williams became a club great for Central District, playing a pivotal midfield role in three premierships during the Bulldogs' golden era before eventually returning to Victoria to represent Geelong in the VFL.
