Bio
Recruited from Collingwood Juniors, Sam Baker arrived at Fitzroy as a mature-age debutant, earning his first VFL cap at the age of 27. Joining a powerhouse club in the midst of its most successful era, Baker faced the difficult task of breaking into a lineup stacked with premiership stars. He operated primarily as a defensive utility, providing depth to the Maroons' back half across two seasons. Despite his experience in the junior ranks, he struggled to cement a permanent place in the senior side, managing just a handful of appearances as Fitzroy geared up for their next flag tilt. His brief VFL career concluded without a goal, serving as a testament to the immense squad depth required to maintain Fitzroy's dominance in the early 1900s.
