Sam Devers

Sam Devers is a highly rated speedster whose draft year was interrupted by an off-season shoulder reconstruction. An Eastern Ranges premiership player in 2025 who hails from local club Blackburn, the athletic half-back returned to the field midway through 2026. After an instrumental performance in his first Coates Talent League game back, Devers was rushed straight into the Vic Metro lineup for the Under-18 National Championships. He finished the season strongly during Eastern's finals push and boosted his draft standing with an invitation to the National Combine, where he placed in the top 10 for the 20-metre sprint, standing vertical jump and running vertical jump.

A smooth-moving general defender, Devers relies on his high-end pace and neat kicking to generate momentum from the back half. He is a dangerous rebounding weapon who reads the play well and takes up aggressive positions to turn defence into attack. At 189cm, scouts note his deceptively clean ground-ball work and reliable intercept marking. While his consistency remains a question following a heavily disrupted campaign, recruiters view him as an intriguing prospect with the upside to eventually develop into a midfielder.
