Bio
Recruited to Footscray as a mature-age prospect in 1927, Sam Glover brought significant physical presence to a side that was still finding its feet in the VFL. Standing 188cm—a giant stature for the era—he was utilised primarily as a key position player, capable of competing in the ruck or holding down a defensive post to support the Tricolours' backline. Glover made his debut midway through the season but struggled to cement a permanent spot in the senior lineup, managing just eight games without hitting the scoreboard in his solitary year at the Western Oval. He departed the club at the end of the season and later trialled with Melbourne during the 1929 pre-season, though he ultimately did not add to his VFL game tally.
