Bio
Recruited from local side Balmain, Sam Jamison holds a unique place in Tiger history as a reserves stalwart who briefly featured on the biggest stage. A utility capable of playing in the back pocket or through the centre, he became the first Richmond player to win the Gardiner Medal as the reserves competition's best and fairest in 1927. Remarkably, despite his limited senior opportunities, Jamison was selected for the 1927 Grand Final side against Collingwood in just his fourth career game. His momentum was halted by a serious injury in the opening round of 1928 that sidelined him for the entire season, and after captaining the reserves to a premiership in 1929, he departed for Sandringham where he cemented his reputation by winning back-to-back best and fairests in the VFA.
