Stats
Bio
A product of the Brisbane Lions Academy, Sam Michael was a physically imposing ruck-forward recruited from Redland who looked to use his athleticism to impact contests. He spent three seasons on the Lions' rookie list but found opportunities scarce behind established talls like Matthew Leuenberger and Stefan Martin, managing just three senior appearances before being delisted. Essendon offered the Queenslander a lifeline in the 2015 Rookie Draft to shore up their key position stocks, yet he remained a depth player during his time at Tullamarine. Even with the Bombers' list severely depleted during the 2016 season, Michael could only add two games to his career tally before being delisted for the final time.
