Bio
Recruited from the Oakleigh Chargers with pick 45 in the 2009 National Draft, Shaw was an athletic key defender whose career was defined by relentless medical setbacks. After missing his first two seasons entirely, he broke out in 2012 as a mobile interceptor capable of playing on both tall and small forwards, earning a Rising Star nomination and featuring in the Crows' finals campaign alongside Daniel Talia. However, his momentum was halted by chronic hamstring tears and severe concussion issues that restricted him to just ten games over the next four years. Shaw was eventually forced to retire in late 2016 due to debilitating concussion symptoms, though the club re-drafted him as a rookie for the 2017 season in a unique administrative move to ensure he retained access to medical treatment and welfare support.
