Bio
The son of Carlton premiership player and former St Kilda coach Ken Sheldon, Sam Sheldon was selected by the Brisbane Lions with pick 70 in the 2006 National Draft. A tenacious small midfielder and defender, he spent his first two seasons developing in the reserves before breaking into the senior side in 2009, where he was often utilised in run-with roles against opposition ball-winners. Sheldon enjoyed his most consistent campaign in 2010, playing 19 games and featuring regularly in the Lions' defensive rotation, but he struggled to maintain his spot in subsequent seasons due to injury and form. He was eventually delisted at the conclusion of the 2012 season, ending his time at the elite level to return to grassroots football in Victoria.
