Bio
Recruited from the Gippsland Power with pick 47 in the 2015 National Draft, Sam Skinner's time in the AFL was defined by exceptional resilience in the face of repeated knee injuries. A versatile key position prospect capable of playing at either end of the ground, Skinner endured three ACL reconstructions early in his career, restricting him to just three senior appearances across five seasons with Brisbane despite a promising two-goal debut in 2017. Following his delisting by the Lions at the end of 2020, he revitalised his prospects in the SANFL with South Adelaide, where his form as an intercepting defender caught the eye of Port Adelaide recruiters. He secured a lifeline via the pre-season supplemental selection period for the 2022 season, adding two final games to his tally before being delisted, ultimately leaving the top level as a talented swingman whose body rarely allowed him a clear run at senior football.
