Recruited from the Box Hill Hawks in the VFL, Sam Switkowski overcame being overlooked in multiple drafts to join Fremantle with pick 73 in the 2017 National Draft. A mature-age recruit, he arrived with a reputation for persistence, an attribute that proved essential as he battled significant hamstring and back injuries that hampered his continuity during his early seasons.
