Bio
Originally from the Irymple Football Club in Victoria's Sunraysia region, Sam Tassone moved to South Australia to board at Prince Alfred College and advance his football. The line-breaking half-back joined North Adelaide in the SANFL Under-18s, where a massive pre-season set up a breakout top-age campaign. After strong early form at Talent League level, Tassone was a late addition to the South Australian squad for the National Championships. He seized his opportunity on the representative stage, saving his best performance for his state's thrilling victory over Victoria Country in the final match of the carnival.
Tassone is a rebounding defender who generates exciting counter-attacks out of the back half. Scouts praise his bouncy running stride, noting his ability to change direction to dodge tackles and use his turn of pace to burn off opponents. He couples his athleticism with solid kicking skills and makes assertive, attacking decisions with the ball. His elite running capacity was on full display at the national draft combine, where he recorded a top-10 finish in the two-kilometre time trial. Having steadily risen into draft calculations throughout the year, Tassone has positioned himself as a genuine prospect for AFL clubs.
