Bio
Scott Gumbleton arrived at Essendon with high expectations after being selected with pick 2 in the 2006 National Draft, viewed as a central pillar for the club's future forward line. A mobile tall forward with strong contested marking ability and an accurate set shot, he displayed glimpses of his genuine talent when fit, notably booting 45 goals during his sporadic appearances in the red and black. However, his tenure at Windy Hill was defined by relentless injury battles, particularly persistent back and hamstring issues that restricted him to just 35 games across seven seasons. Seeking a fresh start and a return to his home state, Gumbleton requested a trade to Fremantle ahead of the 2014 season. Unfortunately, his body let him down once more, and after failing to play a senior match for the Dockers, he was forced into early retirement, remembered largely as a talented prospect whose career was derailed by medical setbacks rather than a lack of ability.
