Recruited from North Launceston in Tasmania, Scott Knight was a tall utility who arrived at Victoria Park via the 1981 interstate draft. Originally hailing from King Island, the 189cm prospect had to bide his time in the reserves before finally breaking into the senior lineup midway through the 1984 season under coach John Cahill. He managed five consecutive games, booting two goals, but struggled to secure a permanent key position role in a Collingwood side that was undergoing a significant transition period. While his time at the elite level was brief, Knight’s sporting legacy eventually continued through his son, Matthew, who became a three-time NBL champion with the Perth Wildcats.
