Bio
Originally selected by the Sydney Swans with pick 25 in the 1999 National Draft, Scott Stevens endured a stagnant start to his career, spending four seasons on the Swans' list without breaking through for a senior debut. Seeking greater opportunities, he was traded to Adelaide ahead of the 2004 season, where he quickly established himself as a dependable key position utility. Stevens became the ultimate "Mr Fix-it" for the Crows, possessing the aerobic capacity, courage, and contested marking ability to play effectively as a centre half-back or a lead-up forward depending on the team's structural needs.
His versatility was exemplified during the Crows' contending years in the mid-2000s, where he often stepped up to cover for injured stars at either end of the ground. He played his best football as a calm, disciplined tall who could read the play exceptionally well, notably kicking crucial goals in high-pressure finals when swung forward. Sadly, Stevens' career was brought to a premature end in 2011 due to persistent issues with post-concussion syndrome. After suffering a head knock in the opening round, lingering symptoms forced him to retire mid-season, concluding his time at West Lakes as a highly respected, selfless clubman.
