Bio
Recruited from the Port Adelaide Magpies with pick 16 in the 2000 National Draft, Scott Thompson began his AFL career at Melbourne, where he quickly established himself as a hard-working young midfielder. Despite showing considerable promise across his four seasons with the Demons, the pull of home proved too strong, and he requested a trade back to South Australia following the 2004 season. This move facilitated a high-profile exchange that saw Thompson land at the Adelaide Crows, while teammate Brent Moloney was sent to Melbourne.
Upon arriving at West Lakes, Thompson evolved into one of the competition's premier inside midfielders. Renowned for his physical strength and elite fitness standards, he became the engine room of the Crows' midfield for over a decade. His playstyle was defined by a relentless attack on the contested ball and an ability to extract clearances from heavy traffic, often racking up massive disposal numbers. This consistency was rewarded with back-to-back Malcolm Blight Medals as the club's best and fairest in 2011 and 2012, along with All-Australian selection in 2012.
