Teams

Recruited from the Port Adelaide Magpies with pick 27 in the 2013 National Draft, Sean Lemmens arrived at the Gold Coast as a tenacious utility capable of playing at both ends of the ground. The cousin of legendary goal-kicker Lance Franklin, Lemmens carved out his own reputation not through highlight-reel moments, but through relentless defensive pressure and competitiveness. While he spent time in the midfield and forward line during his early years, he eventually cemented his spot as the Suns' primary lockdown small defender, regularly assigned to the opposition's most dangerous goal-sneaks.

Lemmens became a fixture of the Gold Coast backline for over a decade, valued highly by coaches for his selflessness and willingness to perform unglamorous shutdown roles. Though injuries occasionally interrupted his momentum, his aggression and closing speed allowed him to quell fast-leading forwards that troubled taller teammates. A loyal one-club player who remained with the Suns through various rebuilds, he finished his career on 149 games, departing as a respected veteran who helped drive standards for the club's emerging defensive unit.
