Bio
Recruited from the SANFL to West Coast, Shane Bond enjoyed a dream start to his AFL career, cementing a spot in the Eagles' lineup and playing in the 1994 premiership side in his debut season. The younger brother of Adelaide premiership player Troy Bond, Shane was a running defender who combined genuine pace with a hard edge at the contest. After three seasons in the west, he returned to South Australia to join Port Adelaide for their inaugural AFL campaign in 1997, bringing valuable finals experience to the fledgling club. He remained a regular fixture in the Power's defence during their formative years, providing drive from half-back until persistent injuries brought his time at the elite level to a close following the 2001 season.
