Bio
Recruited from East Fremantle, Shane Ellis first tested himself at VFL level when he crossed the Nullarbor to join Essendon in 1985. Arriving at Windy Hill during the height of the club's mid-80s powerhouse era, the handy forward managed five senior appearances but found it difficult to break into a premiership-bound side stacked with attacking talent. After returning to the WAFL for several seasons, Ellis received a second lifeline with the West Coast Eagles ahead of the 1989 season. He served primarily as a depth player during the club's formative years, adding a further five games to his tally across two seasons before departing the national competition.
