Bio
Recruited from St Arnaud, Shane Hamilton announced himself as a talent to watch when he booted seven goals in just his third game for Geelong as a teenager. A sharp-shooting half-forward with a natural eye for the goals, he retained his place for the legendary 1989 Grand Final, kicking two majors in the high-scoring thriller against Hawthorn. Despite this early success, he found it difficult to secure a permanent position in the Cats' star-studded forward line and was traded to the Brisbane Bears in 1991 as part of the exchange for the number one draft pick. Hamilton played out the remainder of his career in Queensland, offering valuable experience to the developing Bears outfit before retiring at the end of 1995.
