Bio
Recruited from Sale in the Gippsland region, Shane Loveless burst onto the VFL scene as a prolific full-forward for Footscray in the late 1970s. He made an immediate impression during his debut 1979 season, booting 55 goals to top the club's goalkicking table and showcasing strong hands and reliability in front of the big sticks. Despite a remarkable strike rate of nearly 2.6 goals per game, his time at the elite level was brief, spanning just three seasons before he departed the Western Oval. Loveless subsequently carved out a distinguished career in the VFA with Williamstown, where he captained the club to a premiership and was later named at full-forward in the Seagulls' Team of the Century.
