Bio
Recruited from Central District with pick 18 in the 1994 Pre-Season Draft, Shane Tongerie was a talented Indigenous utility capable of providing a spark in the forward line or midfield. He made a memorable entry into AFL football, debuting against Brisbane at the Gabba in Round 6, 1994, where he came off the bench to boot three goals. Despite this promising start, he struggled to find the football consistently in his subsequent three matches and was unable to cement a regular spot in the Crows' lineup. Notably, Tongerie was a member of the historic Aboriginal All-Stars team that defeated Collingwood in Darwin that same year, a significant highlight during his short stint at the top level. He was delisted at the end of the season and returned to the SANFL, where he continued to serve the Bulldogs as a respected player.
