Bio
Recruited from North Hobart via the local feeder club Essex Heights, Williams was a skilled utility who played his best football on a wing or half-forward flank. After battling early setbacks, he broke into the Richmond senior side in 1982, playing 18 consecutive games including the Grand Final loss to Carlton. He missed the entire 1984 season due to injury before seeking a fresh start at Geelong, where he managed a consistent debut year until fitness issues again limited his impact. Williams finished his VFL career with a brief stint at Footscray, eventually returning to his native Tasmania to captain-coach Sandy Bay.
