Bio
Recruited from Southern Districts in the Northern Territory, Shannon Rusca was selected by the Brisbane Lions with pick 24 in the 1998 National Draft. A versatile utility, he faced the formidable challenge of breaking into a Lions squad that was on the verge of its historic premiership dynasty, managing just two senior games during the 2000 season. Seeking greater opportunities, Rusca was traded to the Western Bulldogs at the end of 2001 in exchange for a third-round selection, but he was unable to break into the senior side at Whitten Oval and was delisted after a single season without adding to his career tally. He subsequently returned to the Top End, where he forged a successful post-playing career as a coach with Southern Districts and the NT Thunder.
