Bio
Recruited from St Mary’s via the NT Thunder, Shaun Edwards was secured by Greater Western Sydney as a Northern Territory zone selection ahead of the Giants' inaugural season. Initially deployed as a forward who could push into the midfield, he struggled to command a regular spot in the developing Giants lineup before being traded to Essendon at the end of 2013 in search of greater opportunity. At Tullamarine, Edwards was reinvented as a rebounding defender where his pace and agility were assets, yet he remained on the fringe of selection throughout his three seasons with the Bombers. After being delisted by Essendon, he was thrown a lifeline by Sydney in the rookie draft but was unable to break into the Swans' senior side, eventually retiring at the conclusion of 2017 as a talented journeyman who displayed flashes of brilliance without finding the consistency required at the elite level.
