Bio
Recruited from the Barwon Football Club in the local Geelong and District Football Association, Sid Smith was a local forward who earned a brief trial at the elite level during the 1911 season. He featured in the opening five rounds of the year, managing to hit the scoreboard with four goals, but ultimately returned to Barwon after failing to secure a permanent spot in the senior side. While his own VFL tenure was short-lived, Smith established a family link to the club that resurfaced forty years later when his son, also named Sid, played for the Cats during their golden era of the early 1950s.
