Bio
Sid Thompson was a foundation player for Footscray during the club’s historic entry into the VFL in 1925. A 19-year-old prospect standing 180cm, he possessed the size to operate as a marking forward or utility in an era where such versatility was highly valued. Thompson featured regularly in the club's debut VFL season, playing nine games and booting four goals as the team adjusted to the elite competition. After missing the entire 1926 season, he returned for a solitary match in 1927, kicking a goal in his final senior appearance. While his time at the top level was brief, Thompson’s status as a member of Footscray's inaugural League squad ensures his place in the club’s history.
