Bio
Recruited from the VAFA's Collegians with a late draft pick, Simon Arnott was a prolific ball-winner who often found himself occupying the difficult middle ground between dominant reserves footballer and regular senior player. He began his career with Sydney, where he struggled to break into a powerful midfield unit, eventually capping his time in the Harbour City by winning the 1998 Gardiner Medal as the best player in the reserves competition. Seeking greater opportunity, Arnott was traded to Geelong and immediately delivered a career-best season in 1999, playing every match of the home-and-away campaign as a hardworking midfielder. However, he could not sustain that momentum and was delisted following the 2000 season, subsequently carving out a distinguished post-AFL legacy as a multi-premiership star for Central District in the SANFL.
