Teams

Recruited to Carlton, Simon Beaumont debuted during the club's dominant 1995 season, though he did not feature in that year's premiership side. Establishing himself as a highly versatile utility capable of holding down a key position or running with opposition stars in the midfield, he became a consistent contributor for the Blues throughout the late 1990s. While generally known as a functional swingman rather than a headline act, Beaumont etched his name into Carlton folklore with a blistering performance against arch-rivals Collingwood in Round 17, 1999, where he booted eight goals in a match that remains the definitive highlight of his time at Princes Park.

Following Carlton's salary cap sanctions and the subsequent need for list turnover, Beaumont was delisted at the conclusion of the 2003 season. He was thrown a lifeline by Hawthorn, where his maturity and experience were utilised to support a developing list. During his two seasons with the Hawks, he was primarily deployed in defence, often tasked with shut-down roles on dangerous forwards or operating as a loose man in the back half. He retired in 2005 having carved out a respectable 179-game career as a reliable utility who could impact the contest at both ends of the ground.
