Bio
Recruited from Notting Hill, Simon Clark was an athletic ruckman who rose through the ranks at Punt Road to feature in the Tigers' 1985 Under-19s premiership side. Standing 196cm, he boasted excellent mobility and marking power for his size but struggled to cement a permanent spot in the senior lineup during a difficult period for the club. After 27 games in three seasons, Clark moved to the VFA, where he became a bona fide legend for Springvale (now the Casey Demons). He played a club-record 203 games for the Scorpions, winning three best and fairest awards and anchoring their 1995 premiership team. His legacy in the state league is enduring, with Casey's best and fairest award—the Gardner-Clark Medal—jointly named in his honour.
