Teams

Recruited from Glenelg with pick 11 in the 1993 National Draft, Simon Garlick began his career during a transformational period for the Sydney Swans. He quickly established himself as a valuable contributor, playing on the wing and half-forward during the club's surge to the 1996 Grand Final, though the Swans ultimately fell short against North Melbourne. Despite his solid form in the Harbour City, Garlick was traded to the Western Bulldogs prior to the 1998 season, a move that saw him play the best football of his career under coach Terry Wallace.

At the Bulldogs, Garlick evolved into a high-impact small forward and rotation midfielder known for his exceptional work rate and reliability in front of goal. He was a key figure in the Dogs' tactical evolution of the late 1990s and early 2000s, most famously kicking the match-winning goal against the undefeated Essendon in the iconic 'Super Flood' match of 2000, ending the Bombers' historic 20-game winning streak. After battling injuries in his final year, he retired midway through the 2004 season. Post-playing, Garlick transitioned successfully into high-level administration, serving as CEO for the Western Bulldogs and later the Fremantle Dockers.
