Bio
Recruited locally from St Kilda CBC, Simon Meehan was a goal-kicking rover who provided a spark for the Saints during a lean era for the club. Making his debut as an 18-year-old in 1980, he quickly established himself as a dangerous option near goal, finishing his VFL career with a strike rate of better than a goal a game. Despite St Kilda's on-field struggles in the early 1980s, Meehan remained a consistent contributor in the forward half before departing Moorabbin at the end of 1984. He continued his playing days with West Torrens in the SANFL and Frankston in the VFA, later forging a successful coaching career that included back-to-back premierships with Old Haileyburians in the amateur ranks.
