Bio
Recruited from the Sandringham Dragons, Simon Phillips began his career on the Sydney Swans' rookie list, earning a brief elevation to the senior side in 2006 to cover for injuries. After being delisted and moving to South Australia to play for Norwood, his electrifying form in the SANFL caught the eye of Port Adelaide recruiters. The Power secured him ahead of the 2011 season via a trade involving the Gold Coast Suns' expansion concessions, offering the mature-age recruit a second lifeline at the top level. A diminutive small forward known for his blistering pace and defensive pressure, "Flipper" provided a spark in the Power's forward line during a difficult transition period for the club. Although he could not secure a long-term AFL position and was delisted in 2012, he returned to the SANFL to become a Norwood legend, playing a key role in three consecutive premierships.
