Bio
Recruited from Terang in Victoria's Western District, Stan Howard was a sturdy half-back who arrived at Geelong during a powerful era for the club. While he managed to break into the senior lineup during his debut 1937 season, he could not force his way into the senior premiership side, instead tasting success as a half-back flanker in the club's reserves premiership victory over Collingwood that same year. He subsequently established himself as a fixture of the Cats' defence, becoming a consistent regular who played every game of the 1941 season. Howard's league career was ultimately cut short by the Second World War, during which he served as a Lieutenant in the Australian Army.
