Bio
Recruited from Katandra in the Goulburn Valley, Stan Le Lievre was a versatile key position player whose VFL career was initially delayed by service during World War II. Finally breaking into the St Kilda senior side in 1945, he began as a centre half-forward before being shifted to full-back the following season to fill a gap in the Saints' defence. His 1947 campaign was defined by two distinct events: a heavy 12-week suspension for "hacking" a Footscray opponent—during which he managed to place third in a league, long-distance kicking competition—and his involvement in a record-breaking moment in his final game. Le Lievre was one of the defenders unfortunately tasked with containing Melbourne’s Fred Fanning during his historic 18-goal haul at the Junction Oval. Following his VFL exit, he forged a lasting legacy in suburban football, captain-coaching Oakleigh District to a premiership and later serving as a prominent administrator and President of the South East Suburban Football League.
