Stats
Bio
Recruited from Ballan with a glowing reputation as a country star, Stan Mullane arrived at South Melbourne after winning three consecutive Best and Fairest awards in the Bacchus Marsh & Melton Football Association. Standing just 175cm, he was a handy rover and small forward who managed to break into a strong South lineup during the 1936 season, playing enough games to feature in the Second Semi-Final against Collingwood. In a harsh stroke of luck, he was omitted from the side following that loss, forcing him to watch on as his teammates contested the Preliminary Final and the eventual Grand Final defeat. Mullane played the opening rounds of 1937 with South before crossing to Geelong mid-season, though he added just one senior game to his tally at Corio Oval before returning to local football.
