Bio
Recruited from the Ballarat region, Stan Wallis was a diminutive rover who briefly tasted VFL football during the post-war era. Standing just 168cm, he joined Footscray from the local Waratahs club (and later Redan) but found opportunities scarce in a strong Bulldogs lineup, managing just seven senior appearances across two seasons. While his time at the Western Oval was short-lived, Wallis forged a formidable reputation upon returning to the Ballarat Football League. He became a standout performer in the country competition, ultimately being retrospectively awarded the 1952 Henderson Medal—the league’s highest individual honour—after originally finishing runner-up on a countback during a stellar campaign with the Ballarat Football Club.
