Bio
Recruited from local side Richmond Districts, where he won the competition’s Clotha Medal, Stan Wilson was a persistent utility who earned his stripes in the seconds before breaking into the senior lineup. After winning the Tigers' reserves Best and Fairest award in 1948, the ruck-rover and half-back flanker made his VFL debut the following season, though he often found himself filling the role of 19th or 20th man rather than starting on the ground. While his career at the top level was brief, comprising just six games in a single season, Wilson holds a distinct place in Punt Road history by featuring in the club's Round 19 victory over Geelong—a fixture immortalised as the final game of club legend Jack Dyer. Wilson was delisted at the end of 1949 and moved to the VFA with Coburg before eventually captain-coaching Macleod-Rosanna in the suburban leagues.
