Bio
Recruited from East Perth, Stefan Carey was a towering ruckman and forward who joined the Sydney Swans during their mid-1990s resurgence. Standing 202cm, he possessed the physical attributes to impose himself on contests but found it difficult to command a regular position in a side featuring Greg Stafford in the ruck and Tony Lockett at full-forward. After 45 games over four seasons with the Swans, Carey was traded to the Brisbane Lions ahead of the 2000 season, where the club hoped he would provide valuable depth to their tall stocks. However, his stint at the Gabba was short-lived, as he managed only three senior appearances before being delisted at the conclusion of that year.
