Bio
Recruited from the SANFL Magpies as a zone selection ahead of Port Adelaide's entry into the national competition, Stephen Carter secured his place in history as a member of the Power's inaugural AFL side. A defender primarily utilised in the back pocket, he was selected for the club's historic debut match against Collingwood at the MCG and went on to play 10 games during the 1997 season. While he provided defensive depth during the club's foundation year, Carter was unable to retain his spot on the list beyond that first campaign, eventually returning to the SANFL where he continued his career with the Magpies.
