Stats
Bio
A decorated VFL midfielder, Stephen Clifton earned his shot at the top level after dominating for the North Ballarat Roosters. Following three VFL premierships and a J.J. Liston Trophy win in 2010, he was recruited by the incoming GWS Giants with the first pick in the 2011 Rookie Draft to provide mature-age leadership for their developing list. A hard-nosed inside midfielder known for his clearance work and contested ball-winning ability, Clifton spent the 2011 season in the NEAFL before an injury-interrupted start to 2012 delayed his AFL debut. He eventually broke into the senior side in Round 16 against Adelaide, holding his spot for five consecutive matches before the season ended. Although he was delisted after just one AFL campaign, he returned to North Ballarat and immediately reasserted his dominance, winning a second Liston Trophy in 2013.
