Bio
Recruited from Hopetoun in the Mallee region, Stephen "Harold" Robins was a solidly built left-footer who became a valuable contributor for Essendon during the mid-to-late 1970s. Operating primarily as a goal-kicking centreman who could push forward, he was renowned for his long, driving disposal and an ability to take a strong overhead mark that belied his height. Robins enjoyed his breakout season in 1977, where he played 20 games and won the club’s Most Improved Player award, cementing his place in the senior lineup. Despite this promise, his top-level career ended prematurely when he departed Windy Hill at just 23 for family reasons, eventually moving to the Essendon District Football League to captain-coach Aberfeldie while pursuing a career in aviation engineering.
