Bio
Recruited from Cohuna in northern Victoria, Steve Donnellan made an immediate impact upon arriving at Fitzroy in 1922. He quickly established himself in the senior side, playing 16 games in his debut season and memorably holding down the centre half-forward position in the club's premiership victory over Collingwood. Despite achieving the ultimate success in his first year, Donnellan struggled to retain a regular spot in the starting lineup thereafter, adding just 11 games over the next three seasons before departing to play for Echuca in the Bendigo Football League. He was an early figure in a significant footballing clan, being related to future Fitzroy players Frank and Ray Donnellan.
