Stats
Bio
Recruited from the local St Kilda District side, Steve Gill was a diminutive footballer who earned a brief trial with the senior team during the middle of the 1920 season. Standing just 173cm, he made his debut in a challenging away loss to Collingwood at Victoria Park before retaining his place for a morale-boosting win over Melbourne at the Junction Oval the following week. Despite tasting victory in his second outing, Gill was unable to cement a permanent spot in the Saints' lineup and finished his VFL career with just those two appearances, typifying the many local recruits trialled by the club during the post-war era.
