Bio
Recruited from South Gawler in the Barossa Valley, Steve Officer was a tall utility who crossed from South Australia to join South Melbourne in the early 1970s. Standing 191cm, he offered the Swans a versatile option capable of pinch-hitting in the ruck or holding down a key post, though he often found himself on the fringe of senior selection during a lean era for the club. After breaking into the side for a solid run of games across 1971 and 1972, he spent two full seasons out of the senior lineup before earning a brief recall for two final appearances in 1975. Unable to cement a permanent spot at Lakeside Oval, he eventually departed the VFL mid-season to continue his football journey with Brunswick in the VFA.
