Bio
Selected by Melbourne with pick 25 in the 2001 National Draft, Steven Armstrong began his career as a creative small forward and midfielder but struggled to cement a permanent spot in the Demons' lineup. After being delisted at the end of 2005, he was thrown a lifeline by the West Coast Eagles via the rookie draft, returning to his home state for a second chance at the top level. Armstrong is definitively remembered for his critical contribution during the 2006 Grand Final against Sydney, where he snapped a pivotal goal in the final quarter to put the Eagles in front and help secure the premiership. Although his AFL career concluded after the 2008 season, his ability to seize a clutch opportunity ensures he remains a celebrated figure in Eagles history.
