Recruited from South Fremantle with pick 46 in the 1989 National Draft, Steven Cummings was a West Australian defender who crossed to Victoria to join St Kilda. He made his debut in 1990 but struggled to cement a regular spot in the senior side as the Saints began to assemble the core of their formidable 1990s lineup. A depth player used primarily in defence, Cummings managed 14 games over three seasons at Moorabbin, failing to play more than six matches in a single year before his AFL career concluded at the end of the 1992 season.
