Bio
Recruited from East Perth with pick 27 in the 1987 National Draft, Steven Da Rui arrived at Princes Park as a mature-age defender ready for immediate senior football. A disciplined back pocket specialist known for his tight-checking defensive work on dangerous small forwards, Da Rui broke into the Carlton lineup the year following their 1987 premiership triumph. He became a regular contributor in the Blues' defence during his first three seasons, utilising his close-marking skills to shut down opposition crumbers. However, his opportunities diminished in the early 1990s as the club looked to regenerate its list, eventually leading to his departure after the 1992 season.
