Bio
Recruited from Myrtleford, Steven McKee began his AFL career at Richmond after being selected with pick 34 in the 1996 National Draft. After struggling to cement a regular spot in the Tigers' senior lineup behind established talls, he was traded to Collingwood prior to the 2000 season in a deal involving Clinton King. At Victoria Park, McKee found his niche as a serviceable backup ruckman and key position utility, often tasked with supporting emerging star Josh Fraser against physically imposing opponents. His honest, workmanlike approach allowed him to feature prominently during the Magpies' resurgence under Mick Malthouse, culminating in appearances in both the 2002 and 2003 Grand Final losses to the Brisbane Lions before he was delisted at the conclusion of the 2004 season.
