Bio
Recruited from Jordanville, Steven Roach was a solidly built utility who carved out a journeyman career across three League clubs without ever securing a permanent senior spot. He was a dominant force in the lower grades, playing in Richmond's 1975 Under-19s and 1977 Reserves premiership sides and polling well in the Gardiner Medal, but he struggled to break into the Tigers' formidable senior lineup. Roach crossed to Collingwood in 1979 seeking greater opportunity, but the Magpies' own strength during their back-to-back Grand Final campaigns restricted him to just four games in two years. Following a final brief stint with St Kilda, he eventually found his niche in the VFA, where he became a standout player, captain, and coach for Oakleigh.
