Bio
Recruited from Redan in the Ballarat Football League, Steven Venner was a towering 200cm ruck prospect who arrived at Arden Street looking to bolster North Melbourne's tall stocks. He broke into the senior side as a teenager in 1989, managing four appearances under coach John Kennedy during a transitional period for the club. Despite his significant height advantage, Venner struggled to secure a permanent spot in the Roos' lineup and did not add to his game tally in the subsequent two seasons. After being delisted following the 1991 season, he crossed to the VFA to play for Williamstown, where he became a reliable contributor and featured in the Seagulls' 1992 Grand Final side against Sandringham.
